What a final @ Grange Leisure Centre, Swindon (3G pitches)

0-0 after extra time

3-1 win for the Vale on Penalties

Penalty Scorers; Ben, Jack & Vasco.

A real team performance today by the boys to hold Wroughton White to an exciting 0-0 draw AET, with an outstanding goalkeeping performance by Finlay (Man of the Match).

We were camped in our own half at times but the determination of Tao, Jack & Vasco in defence held firm & at times we were able to put good counter attacking moves together with Tiger, Tom & Ben giving the Wroughton defence & keeper plenty to think about.

Good width offered by Josh & John in midfield chasing down every cause in a compact display.

Three very well placed penalties taken by the boys, who kept their nerve in an extremely tense situation to see us through on the day.

Well done Boys, some very proud parents tonight. And well done to Iain our Manager and Coach.

Today the Pewsey Vale Youth U10’s team had an early start at the fantastic Beversbrook Sports Facility in Calne for the annual 9v9 Transition Festival.

The first group game was against a very well-drilled Robins FC. Our boys held their own to be 0-0 at half-time. After the break the Robins were lucky to get one goal past the hand of our keeper after which the Pewsey boys' concentration faltered somewhat and they found themselves 4-0 down at the end. A pretty commanding performance from the Robins. All said, the shape of the Pewsey team looked good for their first 9v9 fixture.

After a short break our next group game was against Wooton Bassett which we needed to win to get to the semi-finals. Wooton Bassett had just come from a really tough game against the Robins, and Pewsey found themselves in a good position from the start, although we were unable to get the ball across the line after pressurising most of the half. Half time 0-0. After the break the luck started to come our way with a well taken goal from Emil after a good team move. Another goal followed with a well taken strike by Charlie. Pewsey continued to press and a third goal by Callum came after a great move and sweet strike but it was disallowed, some felt a little harshly, as it was helped across the line by Oscar and was flagged offside. Full time 2-0.

Through to the semi-final against the top team of group one, Trowbridge Town. A pretty scrappy performance from Pewsey, but still enough to hold at 0-0 at half time. After an education by the manager at half time, the boys came out with all the desire they could muster, but it wasn’t enough. Trowbridge soon squeezed one past the keeper and were unlucky not to get a second which ricocheted off the crossbar. Full time 1-0 to Trowbridge who were through to the final.

All in all a great morning’s football for the lads and a great introduction to the 9v9 format which they will move up to next season. Thanks to all the players, coaches, supporters and organisers for their time and support.
